Open Summer Baseball Coaching Position

Organization Overview:

Sandy Springs Youth Sports (SSYS) at Morgan Falls Athletic Park is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization serving 850+ children primarily in the Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, and Roswell communities. The park offers baseball, softball, flag football, and cheerleading. SSYS has some of the finest facilities in the Southeast that includes ten (10) youth baseball fields (both softball and baseball), including five (5) turfed fields.

Mission of SSYS:

The mission of SSYS is to impart to the youth of our community the values of sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for authority as well as peers, so that they may be well-adjusted, and stronger citizens who will have a meaningful positive impact on society. To those ends, we are committed to coaching proper fundamentals and fostering competitive playing opportunities for all skill levels, so that each child may grow in his or her abilities and knowledge of the game while enjoying a high-energy, safe, and supportive environment.

Summer Baseball Overview:

Sandy Springs Youth Sports (SSYS) provides an opportunity for select SSYS players to extend the baseball season through the creation and organization of “ Summer Tournament Teams.”  The Summer Tournament Teams offer a more competitive level of baseball for committed players, and compete against similar all-star teams from other parks across North Georgia. 

The Summer Tournament Teams are generally selected and finalized in early April, with practices beginning in early May and increasing in frequency following the end of the recreation post-season tournaments.  Summer Tournament Teams typically play in tournaments each weekend (Thu – Sun) beginning in late May, including Memorial Day weekend, and ending July 4th weekend at the latest. 

Position Overview:

SSYS is seeking a Head Coach for our prestigious Summer Baseball program. The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced baseball coach with a passion for working with 9-12 year old athletes. The new Head Coach should have excellent instructional delivery skills and the ability to communicate to players, parents, and various SSYS park stakeholders. The successful candidate must have the ability to instruct athletes in game techniques and strategies to prepare them for competition and determine the need for individual or team improvement. The coach oversees the weekly practice and game schedule of the players.  

Position Details & Requirements:

*Coach should expect 4-5 events per week, including games and practices, for approximately 10 weeks between May and July.  Note some teams elect to also participate in fall tournaments which span from September to end of October.

*There are 3-4 practices per week. Games/Tournaments are played on weekends.

* Games last approximately two hours with an hour of warm prior to game time.

* Your role will be to lead practice/game planning, execution, and communication with parents and various stakeholders.

*The Head Coach will be provided with a generous stipend. In addition, the coach will have the ability to participate in private lessons with SSYS athletes and will have the power of a strong brand and top-notch facilities to continue to build a portfolio of young athletes to teach and train.
